Doctor Foster, BBC One’s new thriller starring Scott & Bailey actress Suranne Jones, will begin next week.

Written by British playwright Mike Bartlett (The Town), the five-part series stars Jones as Doctor Gemma Foster, a woman seemingly in control: she is a trusted GP, the heart of her town, a woman people can trust.

The first episode of Doctor Foster airs at 9pm on Wednesday 9 September on BBC One.

Doctor Gemma Foster’s life is about to explode. Suspecting her husband of having an affair, Gemma throws herself into an investigation that will propel her, her family, and even some of her patients into chaos. Bit by bit, Doctor Foster uncovers secrets that shock her to the core. Now she has to choose how to react. One thing is certain – she is going to behave in ways she could never have imagined.

The cast also includes Bertie Carvel (Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell) as her husband Simon, alongside Robert Pugh, Adam James and Jodie Comer (Remember Me).
