Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi will return to ITV next month for one final episode of Vicious.

The sitcom launched on ITV in April 2013 and will end with an extended hour-long special.

Split into seasons, viewers will follow newly married couple Freddie Thornhill (Ian McKellen) and Stuart Bixby (Derek Jacobi) and their best friend Violet (Frances de la Tour) from Spring and Summer, through to Autumn and Winter.

The special will air at 9pm on Friday 16 December on ITV.

Highlights will include Freddie’s birthday, Violet deciding on a major ‘lifestyle’ change and Ash’s big news!

Other returning characters include Ash (Iwan Rheon), Penelope (Marcia Warren) and Mason (Philip Voss), with  guest appearances from Frances Barber and Dame Eileen Atkins.

Saskia Schuster, ITV’s Comedy Commissioner, commented: “This feature length special delivers on laughs, tears and the occasional barbed comment!”
