Steve Pemberton’s adaptation of EF Benson’s comic drama Mapp and Lucia will air over three consecutive days in the week after Christmas.

Set in the summer of 1930, the three-part mini-series begins at 9.05pm on Monday 29 December on BBC One, concluding at 9pm on Wednesday 31 December.

The cast includes Miranda Richardson (Parade’s End) and Anna Chancellor (Spooks) as notorious small-town social rivals Miss Elizabeth Mapp and Mrs Emmeline ‘Lucia’ Lucas, alongside Mark Gatiss (Sherlock) as Raj Army veteran Major Benjy, alongside writer Steve Pemberton (Inside No 9) as Lucia’s devoted acolyte and dapper chief courtier, Georgie Pillson.
