Written by Nick Vincent Murphy and Chris O’Dowd (The IT Crowd), the semi-autobiographical coming-of-age comedy launched on Sky1 in 2012.
Set in the small Irish town of Boyle in 1989, Series 1 followed the adventures of 12-year-old Martin Moone (David Rawle), the twinkly-eyed series celebrated family life as he set about growing up amid his chaotic clan, ably assisted by imaginary friend Sean Murphy (O’Dowd), who was always on hand with some not-so-wise words of advice.
Series 2 begins at 9pm on Monday 17 February on Sky1.
It’s now 1990 and as Martin starts secondary school, he and Sean carefully navigate life’s big hurdles, from falling in love to the awkward school disco, as well as entering the world of work for the first time. As football fever sweeps Ireland, the Moones get caught up in the euphoria of Italia 90, while chaos reigns when new neighbours move in and Martin’s sister Fidelma prepares for motherhood.
