Superman stood in a crowd, ahead of the sequel Superman: Man of Tomorrow

Superman: Man of Tomorrow begins filming

The box-office hit made waves last year with iconic performances and refreshingly positive outlook, filming’s now begun for Superman‘s sequel and some details are being released, here’s what we know so far:

The summer of 2025 was the perfect backdrop of Gunn’s take on Superman, with characters that stepped right out of the pages of the comic book and a message about the power of optimism, it’s not surprising that there’s a sequel underway. With fans chomping at the bit for details, some morsels have been released to the public about the upcoming project.

What’s it about?

After watching our titular hero grow into the immense role of Superman and make lifelong bonds with the humans who have grown to trust him, the sequel’s storyline appears to offer a shift in his relationships. Previously thwarted enemy, Lex Luthor appears to be the only one our hero can work alongside in order to take on an even bigger villain, Brainiac. Brainiac’s powers in the comics include massive technological manipulation, technopathy, energy manipulation, and telepathy – bad news for a world reliant on mass media and screen time. Will the two work together towards a common goal? Can the two even find a way to take on a villain so perfectly suited for the modern world?

Who’s in it?

The confirmed cast includes David Corenswet (Pearl), Nicholas Hoult (The Great), Lars Eidinger (Babylon Berlin), Adria Arjona (Hit Man), Rachel Brosnahan (House of Cards), Skyler Gisondo (Haunted Hotel), Sara Sampaio (Sombra), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Nathan Fillion (Castle), Edi Gathegi (The Harder They Fall) and Aaron Pierre (Goat).

When’s it out?

The theatre release is currently scheduled to be July 9th, 2027.
