Taskmaster renewed for several more years on Channel 4
Channel 4 has announced (ahead of the new series) a multi-year extension for Taskmaster. Last time it was given four series (two years), this time there’s even more.
What do we know about Taskmaster being renewed
The deal sees Greg Davies and Alex Horne continue in their roles as the Taskmaster and his very small sidekick in six new series of the global hit series. Taskmaster’s New Year Treat, and the fan-favourite Taskmaster Champion of Champions (once there are more champions to crown) will also return. That should mean at least three more years for the show — hopefully they won’t run out of comedians!
There’s more as well:
All series of Taskmaster will continue to be available to stream for free on Channel 4, and fans will now also be able to stream the successful New Zealand, Australian and Canadian versions of the show on Channel 4 and Channel 4’s YouTube channel (UK), which are among the 13 international versions of the format which air across the world.
We see this as good news. The first three seasons of Taskmaster NZ had been available to stream on Channel 4, but as of the time of writing, the show has yet to reappear and we can’t spot the other versions. We highly recommend the New Zealand version.
The Channel 4 announcement goes on to cover YouTube audience and improved global reach. Meanwhile, series 21 starts next week
