Sky Atlantic has released a new teaser trailer for Penny Dreadful, the channel’s upcoming psychological thriller series.

Featuring some of literature’s most terrifying characters in Victorian London, Penny Dreadful begins in the US on Sunday 11 May on Showtime and will air in the UK on Sky Atlantic shortly after.

Starring alongside Josh Hartnett and Eva Green are Billie Piper (Doctor Who) as Brona Croft, an Irish immigrant seeking to escape her dark past, Rory Kinnear (Black Mirror) as Frankenstein’s monster, and James Bond star Timothy Dalton as Sir Malcolm, a hardened African explorer on a deeply personal quest.

Other cast members in the adult drama include Helen McCrory (Hary Potter), Simon Russell Beale (Spooks), Danny Sapani (Misfits), and Harry Treadaway as Victor Frankenstein.
