Midsomer Murders returns this week and ITV has released a trailer for the new season.

Neil Dudgeon and Gwilym Lee are back for an extended run of six feature-length mysteries, featuring body snatching, UFO spotting and an international cycle race.

DCI John Barnaby and DS Charlie Nelson are joined this year by new forensic pathologist Dr Kam Karimore (Manjinder Virk), with Barnaby’s wife Sarah (Fiona Dolman) also returning alongside baby Betty and Sykes the dog.

Season 18 begins at 9pm on Wednesday 6 January on ITV.

The opening episode,  ‘Habeas Corpus’, sees wealthy landowner Gregory Lancaster’s body go missing on the night of his death, and a sinister web of secrets and lies is exposed in the village of Little Malton.
