BBC One has released a trailer for the nineteenth season of crime drama Silent Witness.

Emilia Fox returns as Forensic Pathologist Dr. Nikki Alexander for five new two-part stories, alongside David Caves as Forensic Scientist Jack Hodgson, Liz Carr as Forensic Lab Scientist Clarissa Mullery and Richard Lintern as Forensic Pathologist Dr. Thomas Chamberlain.

Season 19 begins at 9pm on Monday 4 January on BBC One.

The opening episode sees Nikki question her judgement on a strikingly similar case from her past after the apparent suicide of a DJ. But when she brings the potential mistake to the attention of her colleagues, the news threatens to have repercussions for the family of the deceased, the police and the Lyell team.
