Wednesday regains the top spot in the Netflix chart as part 2 of season 2 arrives

Wednesday season 2 dropped the second set of four episodes last week, and while we’re still mulling over our review, we have the Netflix Top 10 chart to consider, and unsurprisingly, Wednesday regains the top spot in the chart.

Five weeks in a row

In total, season 2 is now five weeks old. While we were tracking (and getting excited about) the numbers for the first four weeks, we neglected to factor in this was only half a season. While the week on week numbers were clearly a success, they didn’t mount a challenge to the all time top 10 as the full season wasn’t released.

That done, let’s look at this week — Netflix’s own view is:

No Hyde can keep her down! Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) is very much alive and back on the case as Wednesday Season 2, Part 2 rose like the dead to the No. 1 spot on the English TV list last week with 28.2 million views. The final four episodes of the new season feature the return of Principal Weems (Gwendoline Christie), a Slurp (Owen Painter) transformation, and a Lady Gaga cameo, including a new song and a viral dance from Mother Monster. But don’t worry, all those lingering questions will get their time when the series returns for Season 3

Looking past the marketing spin, it’s a good week, and season 1 is also still in the charts at #6. Here’s the numbers for the past five weeks:

Week # Views
1 1 50,000,000
2 1 29,100,000
3 1 13,400,000
4 3 8,400,000
5 1 28,200,000

The show fell from the top spot ahead of the second part being released. Given the season is now twice as long (approximately), the views total in week 5 represents more than twice the number of hours spent watching! In terms of the all time Top 10 (now we have a full season), we make the first four weeks’ total to be over 100 million views, so 50 million if we divide by 2 (it’s an approximation). This means our grand total is just over 78 millions views. This suggests the show will make the all time top 10 in the next week or so. We’ll keep our eyes peeled.
