Joanna Lumley and Rik Mayall join ‘Jonathan Creek’ special

The BBC has announced the guest stars for upcoming one-off Jonathan Creek special.

Written by the show’s creator David Renwick, the new 90-minute episode is due to air at Easter on BBC One.

Alongside returning cast member Sheridan Smith as Joey Ross, Rik Mayall will also be back as DI Gideon Pryke, the character he previously played in 1998’s ‘Black Canary’ episode.

Other guest stars will include Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous), Sarah Alexander (Green Wing), Nigel Planer (The Young Ones) and Hasina Haque (Casualty).

‘The Clue of the Savant’s Thumb’ will see Creek and fellow investigator Joey Ross (Sheridan Smith) drawn into a complex case involving a secret society, seemingly supernatural events at a girls’ boarding school, and the miraculous disappearance of a body in front of three witnesses.

Filming is currently underway in Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Hertfordshire.
