Krypton season 2 has officially been ordered

Krypton has been renewed for a second season, with Syfy ordering another batch of Superman prequel episodes. This news arrived shortly before the American broadcast of the Krypton season 1 finale, which is taking place tonight (May 23rd).

The show focuses on Superman’s grandfather, Seg-El, who is played by Cameron Cuffe. At the heart of the drama is a moral dilemma, where Seg-El has to weigh up whether to save his planet or let it die so that Superman can be created.

Comic book fans will find a lot to enjoy in the show, which has so far referenced not only Superman, but also some of his most iconic foes. The series also has movie pedigree, with Man Of Steel and Batman V Superman scribe David S Goyer playing a core role in Krypton‘s development.

Krypton has been a success for Syfy, earning the cable network its best ratings for a new show since 2014. Krypton‘s renewal wasn’t necessarily a given, though, especially when you consider that Syfy cancelled The Expanse recently.

We would expect Krypton season 2 to have 10 episodes, to match season 1’s run. E4 is the UK home of Krypton, but it hasn’t started airing the season 1 episodes yet.

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
