The BBC has released the first official picture of Peter Capaldi wearing his new Doctor Who costume.
The brand new promotional photo reveals a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, a white shirt and black Loake shoes.
Peter Capaldi commented: “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord.”
Showrunner Steven Moffat added: “New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over – Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!”
Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One, described the costume as “sharp, smart and stylish”, saying that he looks like he “means business”.
The look was created by Doctor Who‘s costume designer Howard Burden.
Series 8 is currently filming in Cardiff and is expected to begin airing in August.

Jenna Coleman, who plays companion Clara, commented last week: “[Peter Capaldi is] great – of course, we all know he’s going to be wonderful. It’s been great to get up on our feet and get started – we just seem to have taken off like a rocket.”
