4) “Raggedy man… goodbye.”
Those stony swines the Weeping Angels finally got one over on the Doctor in ‘The Angels Take Manhattan’, robbing him first of Rory, and then, swiftly after, Amy; the first face his face saw.
Amy was, by this point, the longest serving companion in modern Who, and to lose her was not only a huge wrench for the Doctor, but for many of us at home.
I can’t have been the only one willing her to heed the Doctor’s advice and not to turn away from that dastardly Angel. Goodbye, Pond.
3) “If you love me, don’t let me in.”
Old Amy, outside the closed TARDIS door, faithful Rory on the other side, their hands separated by a glass panel in the door, Old Amy begging him not to open the door as she will kick and fight to be allowed to exist if let in.
‘The Girl Who Waited’ was an emotional powerhouse, with a superb dual performance by a too often underrated Karen Gillan.
