Top 10 most emotional moments in ‘Sherlock’

CultBox has picked out ten of Sherlock’s most emotional moments…

3. “Two years. Two years. I thought – I thought… you were dead.”

Sherlock The Empty Hearse

It was possibly the most anticipated scene on television in 2014: the reunion of John and Sherlock after Sherlock’s apparent suicide in ‘The Empty Hearse’. And it certainly didn’t disappoint.

The multitude of emotions which passed between them in that instant made for one of the most intensely moving moments in the entire show.

2. “Let me come through, please; he’s my friend, he’s my friend.”

Sherlock The Reichenbach Fall Martin Freeman

Pressured by Moriarty, Sherlock jumped from the rooftop of St. Bart’s in ‘The Reichenbach Fall’. And if that heart-stopping sight wasn’t awful enough, then the look of sheer horror on John’s face only amplified the emotional pain of this scene.

He stumbled to where his best friend lay, trying to help, trying to feel a pulse – and found nothing.

1. “One more miracle, Sherlock, for me. Don’t be dead.”

Sherlock The Reichenbach Fall grave

…and that brings us to number one, the most emotional moment of all; John’s speech by Sherlock’s grave. It is John’s chance to say all the things that he has thought and felt but never said.

“You were the best man, the most human… human being that I have ever known, and no-one will ever convince me that you told me a lie.”

Grief-stricken, pain evident in every crack and wobble in his voice, John asks for one more miracle – he just wants Sherlock to come back to him.
