Kris Marshall’s detective heads back to the sun-soaked island for the Beyond Paradise series finale.
Ahead of the Beyond Paradise finale this Friday, the BBC have revealed that Humphry is returning to Saint Marie. The fictional island is where Kris Marshall’s character led the Death in Paradise investigations between 2014 – 2017.
Speaking of his return to Guadeloupe, the real-life home to Death in Paradise, Kris Marshall said:
“I was honoured and delighted to return to Guadeloupe as part of Humphrey’s journey in Beyond Paradise, and to rekindle my deep passion for the island.”

In the finale, the Shipton Abbott police team are faced with a seemingly impossible case to crack. A burglary seems clear-cut at first when the thief’s unusual calling card matches that of local criminal Atticus Styles (Spencer Jones), but when the forensic evidence comes back, it all points to another suspect.
The only problem is the suspect, Hayley Collins (Hannah Traylen), was locked up in a police cell by PC Kelby Hartford (Dylan Llewellyn) at the time of the crime. Meanwhile, still reeling from recent events, DI Humphrey Goodman’s mind is elsewhere as he considers his future in Shipton Abbott…
There’s a video teaser for Humphrey’s Saint Marie return on the show’s social media channels:

As you can see, it promises a reunion with an old friend too. However, we don’t know whether Humphrey’s visit is a fleeting one, or something more permanent…
The Beyond Paradise series finale airs on BBC One and iPlayer on Friday 7th April from 8pm.
