Written by the man behind Game of Thrones and one of the most popular video games of all time, the high-fantasy lore-rich property is next in line for the adaptation treatment, here’s all the info we have on it so far:

Coming out around the pandemic may have benefitted the initial rocket in popularity experienced by Elden Ring, the writing, action and world-building is what gave the game its staying power. As of April 2025, 30 million copies have been sold worldwide, so it’s no wonder why this game, with a world written by George RR Martin, is now getting a film adaptation.

What’s it about?

With such a dense world and skilfully entangled myths, characters and stories, it’s a tall task to pin down a story which would fit in the confines of a the length of a feature film. There hasn’t been a confirmed plot released, however the overall premise of the Elden Ring game follows a sword-wielding (or bow, staff, etc.) soldier named Tarnished. This soldier travels across what’s known as Lands Between, which is ruled by Queen Marika, who gave her demigod children pieces of the titular after a great war broke it apart. It’s likely that the plot will focus on the hunt for these fragments.

Who’s in it?

Exciting names have already been announced for the cast such as Kit Connor (Warfare), Ben Wishaw (This Is Going to Hurt), Cailee Spaeny (Alien: RomulusCivil War), Nick Offerman (The Last of Us), Tom Burke (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Havana Rose Liu (Tuner), Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina), Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes), Ruby Cruz (Bottoms), Jefferson Hall (House of the Dragon), Emma Laird (28 Years Later: The Bone Temple), and Peter Serafinowicz (Guardians of the Galaxy).
