With his new series, Bodyguard doing gangbusters on BBC One right now, Jed Mercurio’s other crime drama, Line of Duty is gearing up for production on its fifth series, according to a tweet by the BBC.
The fifth series, along with the sixth, was confirmed back in May 2017, with production set for September this year, so, as August closes out, the series appears to be meeting its projected target. Star Martin Compston teased what Mercurio has in store for us back in June when he revealed he had received his first script.
“Hopefully, I survive it… you never know!” Compston teased, referencing Mercurio’s notoriously unforgiving approach to culling characters.
Now it’s been revealed that Compston, Vicky McClure, and Adrian Dunbar will be back in uniform for series five this month. The BBC’s tweet looked a little like this…
