Get ready for some 18th Century adventure… 

Ahead of an Easter launch, Disney+ have revealed the teaser for its new adventure series Renegade Nell.

Written by Sally Wainwright (Gentleman Jack), the story follows the fantastical exploits of Nell Jackson, who finds herself becoming an outlaw.

Louisa Harland (Derry Girls) leads the show with a cast which includes Adrian Lester, Craig Parkinson and Joely Richardson. Plus, Nick Mohammed as a fairy!

Here’s what we know about Renegade Nell:

Nell Jackson, a quick-witted and courageous young woman, finds herself framed for murder and unexpectedly becomes the most notorious outlaw in 18th-century England. But when a magical spirit called Billy Blind appears, Nell realises her destiny is bigger than she ever imagined.

Based on the teaser, this looks like an absolute riot. Harland was always a scene stealer in Derry Girls and it appears that the role of Nell affords her plenty of opportunity to sparkle.

The wider cast includes Frank Dillane, Alice Kremelberg, Ényì Okoronkwo, Jake Dunn, Bo Bragason, Florence Keen and Pip Torrens.

Renegade Nell comes from producer Lookout Point and is a Disney+ UK original series. Sally Wainwright writes, while Ben Foster (Sex Education) is the lead director.

All eight episodes of the show land at Disney+ on 29th March, 2024.
