The terrific mockumentary series This Country has received a second series order from the BBC, it’s been announced.

Series one, that launched on BBC Three and iPlayer (subsequently BBC One) back in February has already attracted four million iPlayer requests. The new run will take us back to Northleach in the Cotswolds, to meet up again with Kerry and Lee.

Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper play Kerry and Lee, and also write the show. In the official BBC announcement of the recommission, they’re quoted as saying “We are beyond thrilled to have a second series. We wrote something else in case this wasn’t recommissioned which ended up being exactly the same plot as the BBC drama Life On Mars. So this second series is a godsend really as we can’t do anything else”.

There’s no date for the new series yet, but we do know that it’s filming later this year.
