With the 2019 NFL season not too far away, it is just the right time to get into the right mood for the pinnacle sports event of the United States. In the lead up to the NFL season, the fans’ weekends normally involve watching some films based on the game.

Other than that, a great multitude of them also indulge in betting on their favourite teams in the NFL betting markets. Our friends on the other side of the border, in Canada, have their own league CFL, which is immensely popular amongst the football fans of their country. The CFL season is well underway and is in its 6th week right now (at the time of writing this piece). A great multitude of punters actively avail the best CFL betting odds to back their favourite teams and players in the betting markets.

Let’s now tell you about some of the best movies based on American Football that will just set the right mood for you to look forward to the NFL season or enjoy some already-happening CFL action!

Remember the Titans

Starring Denzel Washington, Remember the Titans is based on a true story of a school football team coach who has to guide the players of a recently racially integrated school. He has to deal with all kinds of racism-related incidents, both off and on the field, while trying to give his best to help the team win the championship. Here’s a detailed review of the film on BBC.

Friday Night Lights

The story is about Texas town which has been hit hard by the recent economic downturn. For the people of Texas, it is only the Permian High Panthers’ matches that are worth looking forward to on the Friday nights. That’s the only place they want to be. The movie is actually a precursor to the TV show with the same name.

Any Given Sunday

The inspirational speech delivered by Al Pacino in this movie is legendary enough to give anyone goose bumps, and power it up any best sports movies’ list, regardless of the fact that it is totally about American football. Pacino plays the role of an under-pressure NFL coach named Tony D’Amato. He has had a fallout with Christina Pagniacci (Cameron Diaz), the young owner of the team. Pacino is ridiculously amazing in this film, and regardless of its numerous faults, the movie continues to be a classic for the American Football lovers.

Rudy

Another one based on a true story, Rudy is a film about a physically unimpressive and dyslexic person named Rudy Ruettiger, who is desperate to play for the Notre Dame College football team, despite all the above-mentioned drawbacks, and the fact that he belongs to a working class, poor family. He needs to find a way to get into the college and its football team. Rudy fulfils his dream and eventually plays in the final play of the football season. The movie has amazing performances by Sean Astin (as Daniel Rudy Ruettiger), Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughan.
