Jasmine Cephas Jones will reprise her role as Ashley from the film…
Jasmine Cephas Jones (Midnight, Texas) will lead a new TV show at Starz which will spin off her character Ashley from 2018’s critically acclaimed film, Blindspotting, it’s been confirmed. News that the series was pressing forward arrived this week, after being labelled as “in development” back in October of last year.
The series was originally revealed by Variety, who wrote that the story would follow Ashley “nipping at the heels of a middle class life in Oakland until Miles, her partner of 12 years and father of their son, is suddenly incarcerated, leaving her to navigate a chaotic and humorous existential crisis when she’s forced to move in with Miles’ mother and half-sister. Her world is turned upside down while the neighbourhood goes inside out, and she must renegotiate her relationship with a town that is caught between two conflicting identities.”
The plan is for the Blindspotting series to have half-hour long episodes, and Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs are returning to pen those.
There’s no word of any release date being eyed for the show yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
