After what feels like a lifetime in development, and numerous teasers and hints, the Alien: Earth television series is almost upon us.
Coming from writer Noah Hawley, Alien: Earth is set to dive into the future of our species and the show is positioned as a prequel to the original 1979 Alien movie.
As well as the existential threat of the Xenomorph, we can expect cyborgs, synthetics and part-human hybrids as the corporations, including good old Weyland-Yutani, vie for the future direction of humanity.
Here’s the official synopsis for Alien Earth…
When the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, “Wendy” (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in FX’s “Alien: Earth.”
In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named “Wendy” marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, “Wendy” and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.
With Chandler, the show stars Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl and Essie Davis. Plus, Lily Newmark, Erana James, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Kit Young, Diêm Camille, Moe Bar-El and Sandra Yi Sencindiver.
FX’s Alien: Earth is created for television and executive produced by Noah Hawley. He executive produces alongside Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Joseph Iberti, Dana Gonzales and Clayton Krueger.
The eight-episode show lands on Disney+ in the UK on 13th August 2025 with a double-premiere. Weekly episodes then follow. In the US, the show is on FX/Hulu a day earlier.
