Alien Worlds is coming to Netflix on December 2. Applying the laws of life on Earth to the rest of the galaxy, this series blends science fact and fiction to imagine alien life on other planets.
Netflix has revealed few details (so far) for up and coming documentary series Alien Worlds, but it has just dropped a trailer on YouTube and it looks superb! Narrated by Oscar- and Golden Globe-nominated actor Sophie Okonedo (“Hotel Rwanda”) the trailer impresses with its visuals and potential scope. In style we’re reminded of David Attenborough‘s Walking With Dinosaurs, but this series looks to benefit from higher definition and all the advantages of modern production. Watching the trailer side by side with any recent episode of Star Trek Discovery, it’s very easy to blur the boundary between fiction and speculative science, and Alien Worlds promises a visual feast along with the latest scientific thinking.
While details from Netflix are scarce at present, Zoe Davis of Calibrate Films is the editor and the series runs to four episodes. Will this stand out in the crowded Christmas TV schedules/ releases? At this stage we can’t predict, but we’ve already added this to our reminder list and will let you have our review as soon as possible.
The trailer is available to watch here.
