With the recent news that American Horror Story‘s upcoming season, Apocalypse, would feature the return of the third season’s titular coven and past cast members, showrunner Ryan Murphy has now given us our first look at the former alumni coming back for Apocalypse.
Apocalypse will be the show’s first ever crossover, merging the storylines from Murder House and Coven as well as assembling almost everyone from the show’s sprawling ensemble cast.
We’ll be seeing the return of – deep breath – Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Lily Rabe, Gabourey Sidibe, Cheyenne Jackson, Billie Lourd, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy, Adina Porter and Kathy Bates.
It’s now been announced that Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott, two regular Murphy collaborators and stars of Murder House, will be making their return as well. The first season was Britton’s only American Horror Story outing but she went on to star in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story and 9-1-1, two other efforts by Ryan Murphy, while McDermott returned for American Horror Story‘s second season.
Both actors are expected to star as their season one characters, Vivien and Ben Harmon alongside Taissa Farmiga as their daughter, Violet, which all but cements the full return of Murder House‘s cast.
The biggest catch, however, has been luring back Jessica Lange, who departed after Freak Show, for one episode, as well as Stevie Nicks reprising her role as herself.
Additionally, American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace‘s Cody Fern and UnREAL‘s Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman have boarded the series.
Ryan Murphy has tweeted a picture of the third season’s coven – consisting of Paulson, Rabe, Conroy, Roberts, Sidibe, Farmiga, and Nicks – together again and it looks something like this:
Now, on Instagram, Murphy has teased the first look at Jessica Lange, who will be reprising her role as Constance Langdon in one episode, set to be directed by her co-star Sarah Paulson.
