The greenlight has been given to an upcoming project from Netflix, here’s everything we know so far about Barbaric:

The news coming out from Netflix about the upcoming fantasy drama from the dark ages gives us a sneak preview of what to expect. Details such as the people behind it and story have been released.

What’s Barbaric about?

The story of the series will focus on a foul-mouthed and foul-smelling barbarian, mighty hero in his own story, but friend to few in the fantastical world he roams. He’s been placed under an unique curse to torture him for the rest of time – he can only utilise his blood-thirst for good causes, trapping his longing for pure violence in a cage of righteousness. Sick and tired of being bound to a life to do-gooding, our protagonist sets out on a path of revenge. With his talking axe and a young witch, he embarks on his journey, not knowing what lies ahead.

Who’s behind it?

Spearheading the project is Sheldon Turner (X-Men First Class), with Robert Rovner (Supergirl) co-showrunning. Executive producers include Jennifer Klein (Armageddon), Barry Jossen (Home Fires), Tana Jamieson (The Lincoln Lawyer), Javier Grillo-Marxuach (The Witcher), F.J. DeSanto (Time Zero), Damian Wassel (Heathen), Sam Claflin (Enola Holmes), Luke Carroll (Goolagong) and Michael Stevenson (Casualty).
