British production house The Forge have cooked up a new series for Starz, the home of The Spanish Princess.

Becoming Elizabeth is a fresh royal drama in the works with the Collateral and Roadkill outfit, and will be an 8-part series to start with. Playwright Anya Reiss has created the show for The Forge, and Emily Ballou (Taboo), Anna Jordan (Succession) and Suhayla El- Bushra (Ackley Bridge) have all jumped aboard the writing crew.

Becoming Elizabeth will follow young Elizabeth Tudor, an orphaned teenager “who becomes embroiled in the political and sexual politics of the English court on her journey to secure the crown” according to Deadline.

There’s not too much information about the project at the moment, but a cast is set to be assembled for it soon. Sister show The Spanish Princess is now preparing its second season at Starz. There now seems to be an influx of new royal dramas being developed in the wake of Netflix’s success with The Crown.
