ITV won’t move forward with a second series of Gurinder Chadha’s Beecham House…

Beecham House won’t be returning to ITV for a second series, confirms Deadline, but creator Gurinder Chadha is looking into the possibility of bringing the show back via other means.

“We have no plans for Beecham House to return, but the series is still to air in the US from March 2020 and creator Gurinder Chadha is actively having conversations with international broadcasters with a view to the drama returning beyond series one”, an ITV rep said in a statement.

The series stars Tom Bateman, Lesley Nicol, Gregory Fitoussi, Adil Ray, Marc Warren, Pallavi Sharda, and Dakota Blue Richards, and follows the fortunes of the residents of Beecham House in Delhi at the turn of the 19th century. According to the cancellation report, the show struggled to find an audience compared to other series awarded the same Sunday night timeslot, garnering just 3.3 million viewers.

“We’re extremely proud of our landmark TV series Beecham House and our incredibly diverse team, both in front and behind the camera”, said Gurinder Chadha. “The series has been loved by our audience and we were delighted that the overnight audience doubled on catch up and continues to grow. We are really excited for the upcoming US launch on PBS and can’t wait to see the series continue to air around the world.”
