Lesley Sharp leads the cast as DI Hannah Laing in new Channel 4 drama, Before We Die

Coming to Channel 4 in May, the six-part series Before We Die stars Lesley Sharp as Hannah Laing, a senior Police detective who is forced to make a terrible decision as her son, Christian – played by Patrick Gibson (The OA & Tolkien) – goes off the rails. With their relationship seemingly beyond repair, Hannah gets a chance at redemption when Christian becomes caught up in the investigation into the brutal murder of one of Hannah’s colleagues and their paths cross again in unexpected circumstances.

In contrast to Hannah’s dysfunctional relationship with her son, the tight-knit Mimica family left Croatia for Bristol and now run a successful restaurant, where Christian works. But, under the guidance of the ruthless eldest son, Davor, they are ambitious to expand their criminal activities, which risks stretching family bonds to breaking point.

The cast also includes leading Croatian actor Toni Gojanović – star of HBO Europe’s recent hit series, Success – as Davor Mimica, and Vincent Regan (Troy, 300, Wallander) as Billy Murdoch, a non-conformist and rather shadowy investigator, who is seconded to Hannah’s unit to advise on Eastern European drug gangs.
