The news is out about the film adaptation of one of the most iconic figures from the early years of animation. With the hype from Boop! The Musical still lingering in the air, the announcement of the feature project seems to have come at just the right time, with the right people attached.

What’s the Betty Boop film about?

The storyline for this adaptation will take a look at our protagonist’s legacy through the eyes of her creator, Max Fleischer. The plot will explore the relationship between artist and creation as he struggles to balance the creative and corporate demands placed on himself and his leading lady. As he builds up the identity an animated icon, it seems as though she’s developing a life of her own…

Who’s behind it?

Esteemed and decorated creator Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary) has partnered on this project with Fleischer’s grandson, Mark Fleischer, as well as the estate’s studio, Fleischer Studios.
