Season 7 of Black Mirror will star Peter Capaldi, Paul Giamatti, Rashida Jones & Harriet Walter. 

The disturbing Black Mirror will soon be back at Netflix for a seventh season.

Having started its life on Channel 4 back in 2010, the show migrated to the streamer after a couple of seasons and has gone from strength to provocative strength.

Primarily from the pen of writer Charlie Booker, the show takes a look at our obsession with technology and how it impacts our lives. From social media satire to digital afterlives, to a choose-your-own-adventure style interactive special.

With the seventh season in production, Netflix have revealed an devastatingly starry cast for the new set of films in typically indosyncratic style.

It includes Awkwafina, Milanka Brooks, Peter Capaldi, Emma Corrin, Patsy Ferran, Paul Giamatti, Lewis Gribben, Osy Ikhile, Rashida Jones, Siena Kelly, Billy Magnussen, Rosy McEwen, Cristin Milioti, Chris O’Dowd, Issa Rae, Paul G. Raymond, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jimmi Simpson and Harriet Walter.

Speaking at a Netflix Geeked Week live event, Charlie Brooker said:

“You can expect a mix of genres and styles. We’ve got six episodes this time, and two of them are basically feature-length. Some of them are deeply unpleasant, some are quite funny, and some are emotional.”

Also, the upcoming run will provide the first sequel as Season 4’s popular opener receives a follow-up story.

‘USS Callister’ starred Jessie Plemons as Robert Daly, a troubled programmer who created a simulated reality computer game. While he took a Captain Kirk-like role, his colleagues were all cast as his adoring crew with their DNA used to create digital sentient clones.

Charlie Brooker told a Netflix Geeked Week live event:

“We’ve done a sequel for the first time in Black Mirror history. Normally, I kill off all the characters at the end of an episode, and I kept some of ’em alive. I’m growing as a human.”
