Amazon has released an official trailer for Coming 2 America and confirmed a release date

From the official Amazon Prime Twitter feed we got this tweet:

Did you think we wouldn’t give you at least a LITTLE taste of the trailer after all that? #Coming2America arrives on March 5.

In case you’re wondering, the ‘all that’ just refers to a thread simply started with #Coming2America.

Main stars Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall are back, as is James Earl Jones. The original Coming to America was released in 1988 and told the story of how Prince Akeem Joffer of Zamunda (Murphy) left his homeland in Africa to seek a bride in the district of Queens. The plot of Coming 2 America takes us back as follows:

Prince Akeem and Semi return to America after news reaches them of a potential male heir in Queens.

It’s not much in the way of plot detail, but we do know the cast includes Jermaine Fowler (as long lost son Lavelle), Leslie Jones, Shari Headley, John Amos, Tracy Morgan and Wesley Snipes. Like the first film, Murphy and Hall play multiple other characters: Murphy plays Randy Watson, the barbershop customer Saul and the barber shop owner Clarence; Hall plays Morris the barber and Reverend Brown.
