The streamer’s fickle finger of fate calls time on the Dead Boy Detectives.
Variety are reporting that Dead Boy Detectives won’t be returning for a Season 2.
The series based on Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner comics, and based in the world of The Sandman, debuted on Netflix back in April 2024.
Despite broadly positive reviews however, it only managed to keep a spot in Netflix’s Top 10 English TV chart for three weeks.
Steve Yockey (The Flight Attendant) developed the series for television, with George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri starring.
Back at the time of it’s launch, Yockey told RadioTimes.com:
“We’re just in a ‘wait and see’ mode right now. We have a plan for season 2, we have ideas for season 3 [for] any Netflix execs who are watching.”
As the show had a little crossover with The Sandman on screen, with Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Donna Preston guesting as Death and Despair, respectively, there’s a small hope that it’s not the end for the characters.
The Sandman Season 2 is currently in production. We’ll keep you posted.
