Shows from the three channels will move to Disney+ UK after Sky and Virgin lost new broadcast deals…
Disney has announced that it is getting rid of its UK kids channels. Sky and Virgin Media were not able to establish new carriage deals with Disney (via Deadline and Broadcast), so Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior will be gone by the end of September, 2020, and the shows the channels currently run will shift to Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+.
Series that will presumably make the move to Disney+ UK in the wake of the shutdown include Big City Greens, Big Hero 6, DuckTales, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Milo Murphy’s Law, Star Wars Resistance, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Gravity Falls, Lab Rats, Mighty Med, Phineas and Ferb, Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja, Boyster Disney 11, Dude, That’s My Ghost! and Counterfeit Cat.
“From October 1st, Disney+ will become the exclusive home for content from Disney Channel, DisneyXD and Disney Junior in the UK,” said Disney in a statement. “Walt Disney Company remains committed to our kids channels business.”
