A Doctor Who series 13 teaser trailer appeared at the weekend — is series 13 almost here?

We’ve been tracking rumours of a Halloween weekend date for the first episode of Doctor Who series 13 and a (very short) teaser trailer does suggest something is on its way. Ahead of many shows (including Strictly and others) a signal appears to interrupt the BBC and show (if you look) Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor asking if anyone can hear her message, then the signal is lost…

With the announcement of Russell T Davies back in the helm as showrunner, we expect mixed reactions to this (final apart from the BBC’s centenary special in 2022) series for Whittaker, and hope some fans might be more generous towards her than they have been. What the show doesn’t need is a lame duck Doctor ticking away the time until 2023 and the wishful thinking of a new golden age for the show we’ve seen from some areas of fandom.

As to the likely date, we do think Halloween makes sense, though wouldn’t rule out the weekend before. We expect to know more in the next few days.
