Phoebe Dynevor will star in, and Executive Produce, Exciting Times for Amazon Prime
Since Bridgerton (and she’s back in season 2, though not the focus for the story), Phoebe Dynevor has taken on a few projects, including The Colour Room. She is also due to star in Sony Pictures’ I Heart Murder. Now she will be in a new series, and it’s for Amazon Prime not Netflix.
Exciting Times — what’s it about?
The series is an adaptation of the Naoise Dolan novel of the same name. Dolan was born in Dublin, and won plenty of praise in 2020 for her debut. The Amazon summary of the plot is:
When you leave Ireland aged 22 to spend your parents’ money, it’s called a gap year. When Ava leaves Ireland aged 22 to make her own money, she’s not sure what to call it, but it involves:
— A badly-paid job in Hong Kong, teaching English grammar to rich children
— Julian, who likes to spend money on Ava and lets her move into his guest room
— Edith, who Ava meets while Julian is out of town and actually listens to her when she talks
— Money, love, cynicism, unspoken feelings and unlikely connections.
Exciting times ensue.
According to Deadline, Cooper Raiff (Cha Cha Real Smooth) will co-write the TV adaptation with Dolan and is also slated to direct. We’ll keep you posted as and when the series moves into production.
