According to reports, the team behind the cult comedy Fleabag – Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Vicky Jones – is developing a new rom-com-thriller TV series.
The show, which is titled Run, will be made by DryWrite productions, alongside Entertainment One. Drywrite was the company – owned by Waller-Bridge and Jones – behind the initial stage run of Fleabag, which bought Waller-Bridge’s portrayal of eponymous character to wider attention, and eventually to the BBC.
Then, Vicky Jones directed that stage production of Waller-Bridge’s script. This, however, will be the first time the company has produced for TV.
Variety, describes Run as a “about ex-lovers who made a pact 15 years ago that if they ever needed to escape life, they could send each other a simple text message – ‘RUN’ – and disappear together”. Also according to the Variety piece, Jones penned this story and script, while Waller-Bridge will appear in a recurring role.
While a new TV run of Fleabag is said to be on the cards for next year, Waller-Bridge – who was long-rumoured to be in the running to star in Chris Chibnall’s Doctor Who before Jodie Whittaker was given the role – will soon appear as droid L3-37 (Leet) in Solo: A Star Wars Story, having previously turned up in as well as roles in Broadchurch, Crashing, and Bad Education.
