Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein comes to Netflix later this week — for now, enjoy the final trailer

Not for the first time, nor do we expect it to be the last, a new adaptation of the classic Mary Shelley masterpiece Frankenstein is coming to our small screens. As the trailer says:

Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro adapts Mary Shelley’s classic tale of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.

Netflix has a whole host of publicity — we thought we’d take a quick look.

Who is in this new version of Frankenstein

If you want the long answer, have a read of the character guides in Netflix’s own guide. To summarise: Oscar Isaac (Dune) is Victor, Jacob Elordi (Saltburn) is the creature, Mia Goth (who played dual roles in Ti West’s X trilogy) plays both Victor and brother William’s mother Clara and William’s betrothed Elizabeth Lavenza, Felix Kammerer (All the Light We Cannot See) plays William, Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds, Djago Unchained) plays wealthy patron of the arts Heinrich Harlande, Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth) plays young Victor, Charles Dance (Bleak House, The Crown) places Victor’s controlling father Leopold, Lars Mikkelsen (Ahsoka, The Witcher) plays Captain Anderson who finds Victor while stranded in the Arctic.

What else is there

If you want to get del Toro’s take on his film, try this feature, and there’s a teaser. We’ll leave you with the final trailer:
