James and his production company SpringHill Entertainment and Roy Lee’s Vertigo Entertainment are in talks to snag the rights to make a new chapter of Voorhees’ killing spree. With a legal feud regarding original screenwriter Victor Miller recently coming to an end, it was only time before a Friday the 13th reboot was considered.
Admittedly, it’s incredibly early days as no writer or director is currently attached but the likeliness of seeing Friday the 13th on the big screen in the next few years has increased. Warner Bros. are also expected to distribute the film.
The recent success of Halloween being revived as a popular franchise will likely buoy hopes for more Friday the 13th movies, too, with Jamie Lee Curtis’ big screen destroying box office records with $77.8m in its opening weekend.
