The 90-minute drama, which tells the story of the genesis of Doctor Who and the many personalities involved, will be available to buy on DVD from Monday 2 December.
An Adventure in Space and Time airs at 9pm on Thurday 21 November on BBC Two and will premiere at BFI Southbank on Tuesday 12 November, followed by a Q&A session.
The cast includes David Bradley (Harry Potter) as the first Doctor, William Hartnell, while Brian Cox (The Bourne Identity) will play the BBC’s Head of Drama Sydney Newman, credited with the creation of the show, and Call the Midwife star Jessica Raine will play producer Verity Lambert.
