Lifelong fan Matthew Sweet explores the cultural significance of the BBC’s longest running TV drama, arguing that it’s one of the most important cultural artefacts of modern Britain.

The special episode of The Culture Show will air at 9.30pm on Friday 22 November on BBC Two.

‘The Day of the Doctor’ will be screened in 3D in cinemas across the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada, Germany and Russia at the same time as the UK TV broadcast on BBC One on Saturday 23 November.
