A set of promotional images has been released for BBC One’s new family drama Our Zoo.

Based on the real story of the eccentric Mottershead family who established Chester Zoo in the 1930s, the six-part series begins at 9pm on Wednesday 3 September on BBC One.

Written by award-winning playwright Matt Charman, Our Zoo stars Lee Ingleby (Inspector George Gently) as ex-serviceman George Mottershead, alongside Liz White (Life On Mars) as his wife.

The cast also includes Sophia Myles (Underworld), Ralf Little (The Royle Family) and Anne Reid (Last Tango In Halifax).
