The star salary system that used to dominate the movies is very much prevalent in television now, with actors able to bring home millions a year when they land a successful show.
And there’s none more successful on television right now than Game Of Thrones. The programme’s seventh season is about to come to an end, and in a survey of television salaries for Variety, it’s revealed that five of the cast are taking home $500,000 per episode of the show.
The five in question? Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kit Harington and Lena Headey.
By way of comparison, that’s the same that Kevin Spacey makes for a House Of Cards episode, and a little about Claire Danes’ Homeland salary. Claire Foy, meanwhile, picks up $40,000 per episode of The Crown.
The full survey makes interesting reading – with the salaries for comedy shows in particular eye-watering – and you can find it here.
