Gen V cancelled — perhaps not a surprise. Vought Rising coming in 2027

Deadline reports the cancellation of The Boys spinoff after two seasons.

Why was Gen V cancelled

The Deadline report echoes our sentiments. We aren’t surprised. Regardless of audience, the spin-off never managed to exist outside the narrative framework of The Boys. As that show ends with the current season, it left Gen V with no clear follow-on. We also suspect we aren’t alone in feeling Gen V failed to deliver enough impact, with its main twist being entirely predictable.

While this show may be over, it’s entirely possible other expansions to the franchise might see the return of some of the characters.

And Vought Rising?

It’s said to still be in “active development”, which we take to mean “depending on audience, we have a good idea of season 2”. We’ll keep an eye out for more news until the release of season 1.
