The Shondaverse shows no sign of slowing down as the TV galaxy expands further, here’s what we know about the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff:

The legendary medical drama has become one of the mainstays of television, forming a lifelong audience and keen fanbase. It’s no wonder that a green light’s been given to a spinoff of the series with its own twist to bring a fresh batch of stories to an avid audience.

What the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff about?

With Rhimes, Meg Marinis and Ellen Pompeo from the GA universe behind the wheel of the new take on the classic series, development is underway after getting the go-ahead. The story is kept under lock and key currently when it comes to details, but we do know that it’ll be making a move away from the usual setting. The new lease of life will happen in Texas, in a place that’s the last stop for care for miles around. We’ll be taking a step away from state-of-the art hospitals and the drama will take place against a rural backdrop, potentially a more desperate one.

Who’s in it?

Although the cast list is being kept under the same wraps as the story details, it’s been announced that this series will not have any of the characters or regulars from the original series.

When’s it out?

Although there’s not been a specific date set, the spinoff is set to arrive within the 2026/2027 season for ABC.
