2017’s BAFTA nominations have been announced

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has revealed the nominations for this year’s EE British Academy Film Awards.

They were announced by Dominic Cooper and Sophie Turner at BAFTA’s London headquarters this morning.

The list sees La La Land nominated in 11 categories, while Arrival and Nocturnal Animals have both received nine nominations, followed by Manchester by the Sea with six.

Other movies with multiple nominations include Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find ThemHacksaw Ridge, Lion and I, Daniel Blake, each with five nominations, and Moonlight and Florence Foster Jenkins with nominations each.

80-year-old British director Ken Loach is up for best Director for I, Daniel Blake, which is also nominated for Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Original Screenplay and Supporting Actress for Hayley Squires.

James Bond actress Naomie Harris is up for best Supporting Actress for Moonlight.

Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has received nominations for Outstanding British Film, Production Design, Costume Design, Sound and Special Visual Effects.

Former Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield is up for best Leading Actor for Hacksaw Ridge, while Skins star Dev Patel is nominated for best Supporting Actor in Lion.

Other Brits up for awards include Hugh Grant for best Supporting Actor in Florence Foster Jenkins and Emily Blunt for best Leading Actress in The Girl on the Train.

Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch’s Marvel movie Doctor Strange has received nominations for Production Design, Make Up & Hair and Special Visual Effects, and the UK-shot Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is up for best Make Up & Hair and best Special Visual Effects.
