The series adapts Anthony Horowitz’s teen-spy novels…
Alex Rider has been renewed for a second season, Deadline confirms, although it’s currently unclear if it will keep its home on Amazon Prime Video streaming when it returns for further episodes.
In the series, which debuted earlier this month, Otto Farrant (Marcella, War and Peace) is eponymous spy Alex Rider, starring alongside Vicky McClure, Andrew Buchan (the dad from Broadchurch) and Stephen Dillane (Stannis from Game Of Thrones). Season 2 will continue to adapt Anthony Horowitz’s bestselling books.
Here’s a trailer for the first season…
“I couldn’t be more excited to play such an iconic character as Alex Rider”, Farrant said when he was cast. “I loved the books growing up and it is an honour to be able to step into his shoes and give the fans the fresh and thrilling adaptation the series deserves.”
Book author Anthony Horowitz added this: “This really seems to be Alex’s year with the 20th anniversary approaching, a new novel on the way and now this brilliant TV series, which I hope will appeal to everyone who grew up with the books.”
The eight-episode first season was based mainly on the novel Point Blanc, and was developed by Sony Pictures Television and Eleventh Hour Films.
