The Shield creator Shawn Ryan is developing an American remake of Sky1 drama Mad Dogs for Amazon.

Starring Max Beesley, Philip Glenister, John Simm and Marc Warren, Mad Dogs ran for 14 episodes on Sky1 between February 2011 and December 2013.

The show’s original creator, Cris Cole, has written the new adaptation and will executive produce the project with Sony Pictures TV, Deadline reports.

The remake will follow the reunion of four 40-something guys who head to Belize to visit a school friend, when things take an unexpected and dark turn.
