The show’s third series ended at the weekend, with 1.1 million viewers watching Episode 8 on Sunday night.
Series 4 will see the aftermath of the dramatic finale as the housemates return to their home in Barry Island and will introduce some new faces, following Series 3’s guest stars Lacey Turner, Robson Green and Michael Socha.
Consolidated figures show that Series 3 had the biggest series launch to date, with 1.8 million viewers tuning in for Episode 1. The series sustained an average of 1.4 million viewers on television across the run, with an additional 0.4 million requests per episode on iPlayer each week.
The show’s spin-off series Becoming Human has also had over 1.5 millioin views on the red button and online to date. A 50-minute special of the eight-part online series will air at 9pm on Sunday 20th March.
Creator and writer Toby Whithouse commented: “We were overwhelmed by the response to Series 3, and so we’re absolutely thrilled that the BBC have given us this opportunity to continue our show into a fourth year. We’ve got another intense and epic story lined up for you, with some new faces and old, and even more horror and mayhem and mugs of tea. I can’t wait to get started.”
Series 4 will feature eight 60-minute episodes and will air next year.
