Series 4 concluded last night with The War Child, written by showrunner Toby Whithouse.
The show’s official Twitter feed confirmed shortly after the episode aired: “#beinghuman is confirmed for a 5th series! YOU WANTED, WE SAID YAAAAAA HOOOOO!!!!!” (sic)
Six new episodes have been commissioned by Ben Stephenson, Controller, BBC Drama Commissioning and Zai Bennet, Controller, BBC Three.
Showrunner Toby Whithouse commented: “Being Human lives on! The response to Series 4 has been terrific. We’re thrilled that the audience has taken the new cast into their hearts with such enthusiasm and affection and we’re delighted to have this opportunity to expand their world further, exploring new characters and telling new stories. A heartfelt thank-you to all the fans for their unstinting support and to the BBC for letting us mess up the sandpit for a fifth year.”
Michael Socha and Damien Molony have been confirmed to return in Series 5 as werewolf Tom and vampire Hal.
Speaking exclusively to CultBox last week, Being Human‘s 2nd Assistant Director Derek Ritchie commented: “Toby has a lot more stories to tell and there would be a great injustice done to audiences everywhere if he doesn’t get the chance to tell them!”
Ritchie also teased: “And there’s a very cryptic clue on the final piece of vampire parchment which will set up some madness in Series 5…”
Series 4 sustained an average 950,000 viewers across the run.
